National research center for obstetric and gynecological disease unveiled at Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital

The National Center for Obstetric and Gynecological Disease Clinical Medical Research’s Shanghai branch was unveiled at Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital on April 1. 

Professor Ma Ting, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the National Center for Obstetric and Gynecological Disease Clinical Medical Research, Cao Hongming, director of the biomedical department of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, Yang Xinchao, Party secretary of Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital, Wang Yu, president of the hospital attended the ceremony, which was presided over by vice president Ying Hao of the hospital.

The national center was founded in 2014 to promote standardized diagnosis and treatment of obstetric and gynecological diseases. It aims to promote new technologies and services in hospitals across the country through the establishment of branches and big data as well as specialty alliances and databases. 

The initiative also aims to facilitate the promotion and clinical translation of research findings. 

As a leading specialized maternal and child health hospital in China, the hospital has long been dedicated to the advancement of maternal and child healthcare as well as obstetrics and gynecology research. 

Being designated as the Shanghai branch of the national center is a significant step forward in advancing clinical research in obstetrics and gynecology, according to the hospital.

The hospital will fully leverage the brand influence of the center, harness the advantages and characteristics in medical care, research and education, while conducting high-quality clinical research in obstetric and gynecological diseases.
