Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital Ranks 7th in China's 2022 STEM Evaluation for Obstetrics and Gynecology

China Academy of Medical Sciences officially released the 2022 China Hospital Science and Technology Evaluation (STEM) ranking on July 6, representing the highest level of medical research and innovation capabilities in China. 

Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital secured the 7th position in both the STEM Obstetrics and Gynecology ranking and the ASTEM Obstetrics and Gynecology ranking.

Established 76 years ago, the hospital has consistently adhered to its public-oriented mission of providing comprehensive care for women and children, aiming to create a "great harbor" of maternal and infant health. 

In recent years, the hospital has prioritized internal development, focused on key disciplines, and established nationally leading and internationally renowned disciplines and sub-disciplines while accumulating outstanding leading talents. 

It has also emphasized clinical research translation, major basic research projects, sample libraries, municipal-level key laboratories, and municipal research institute construction to comprehensively enhance the hospital's research and innovation capabilities. 

Leveraging the establishment of the Shanghai Municipal Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinical Training and Practical Training Center, the hospital has created a standardized, high-quality training base for obstetrics and gynecology resident and specialist physicians.

The hospital consistently ranks among the top in national and Shanghai city science and technology evaluations. 

In the China Hospital Science and Technology Evaluation ranking (Obstetrics and Gynecology) and Fudan hospitals’ ranking (Specialty Comprehensive - Obstetrics and Gynecology), it has maintained a stable position in the national "top 10" for five consecutive years from 2017 to 2021. In the 2021 Shanghai Medical Research Competitiveness ranking (Obstetrics and Gynecology), it held the first place in Shanghai.
