Clinical Laboratory


The Department of Laboratory Medicine is dedicated to the principles of "Safety First, Supreme Quality, Outstanding Service, and Efficient Management" to provide comprehensive services for both doctors and patients. It consists of seven sub-specialties, including Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Hematology and Body Fluids, Clinical Immunology/Endocrinology, Clinical Gene Amplification, and Clinical Blood Transfusion and Cytogenetics . The department carries out nearly 200 types of laboratory tests, with a total of 20 million tests completed in 2022. It has achieved outstanding results in the "2022 Clinical Laboratory Quality Control Inspection" conducted by the Shanghai Clinical Laboratory Center.

The Department of Laboratory Medicine is equipped with advanced automated testing equipment, including automatic coagulation analyzer, automatic blood cell analyzer, automatic biochemistry analyzer, automatic chemiluminescence immunoassay analyzer, automatic enzyme immunoassay system, microbial identification instrument, mass spectrometry microbial identification system, fluorescence quantitative PCR instrument, automatic blood group recognition system, etc., which provide timely and precise results for clinical purposes.

The reproductive immunological testing and clinical transfusion testing are the specialties of our department. Reproductive immunity-related tests include 50 items such as sex hormones, thyroid function, insulin, autoantibodies, platelet aggregation, homocysteine, embolism, etc., providing valuable objective data for the diagnosis and treatment of recurrent miscarriage, reproductive medicine and obstetrics-related endocrine disorders, and other diseases. Clinical transfusion testing offers special blood typing tests for obstetrics, blood transfusion and blood cross matching, and neonatal hemolytic disease testing services. Special programs such as RHD blood type negative confirmation test and neonatal hemolytic disease free and release test have also been carried out. Clinical transfusion testing plays an extremely important role in the diagnosis and use of blood for pregnant women with rare blood groups (RHD)and in the rescue of critical cases of pregnant women in obstetrics, providing an important basis for the accurate diagnosis and timely treatment of neonatal hemolytic disease. 

Currently, there are 76 employees in the Department of Laboratory Medicine, with 53% of them having middle and senior titles and 18% having master's degree or above.In the past five years, the department has published 33 SCI papers and 42 papers in Chinese core journals.
